July 10, Full Moon in Capricorn
discomfort is the predictable part
Hello, I hope this article finds you enjoying our new astro weather of Uranus in Gemini. I am actually finding Uranus in Gemini energetically overwhelming, a challenge to face up to. Likely, this is because Uranus is approaching my natal Jupiter, and my Cancer and Capricorn heavy chart is missing the Taurus energy (even if it was Uranus). While my Cancer sun and Capricorn moon usually don’t have much to say about Gemini transits, they do qualify me as a Capricorn lunar eclipse baby to tell you about Thursday’s Capricorn full moon.
Truthfully, this full moon appears similarly uncomfortable to me. Uncomfortable is a word often used to describe the moon in Capricorn, her detriment, where the planet that craves softness, warmth and emotion finds itself in an angular and firm place.
Full moons are emotional, climactic events. With the Sun and Jupiter in Cancer, the quality of time is highly emotional; the Moon in Capricorn struggles to process that. Searching for rational explanation and trying to make logic and fact from the nonsense that is emotion, the Moon in Capricorn suffers and the high quantity of emotion from the Sun and Jupiter feel dense and immovable. This creates the groundwork for a full moon that can be a cathartic release, or an outburst of misdirected feeling.
To contextualize, we look to the Moon’s ruler, Saturn. We find him at 1 degree of Aries, applying a lasting conjunction to Neptune. I have been finding the lesson of Saturn-Neptune to be that illusions, delusion, disbelief, distortions, cognitive dissonances, and so on, are all forms of avoidance and procrastination that Saturn demands we let go of. Any productive thought or action, requires us to start from reality; smoke and mirrors cannot support even the most perfect creation. A Capricorn moon can be prone to dissociation, procrastination, and deflection, but this is likely to lead to more emotional confusion and distress (albeit masked).
Neptune and Saturn are also forming a sextile to Pluto in Aquarius, and Uranus in Gemini, an air trine we are just beginning to experience the energy of. Distortions of reality can have powerful impacts right now; unexpected repercussions of any sort, relate to actions that really change current circumstances. Obviously, notably, this connects to world events. I’m not specialized in mundane astrology, but it is as important as ever right now to be conscious of your news sources, understanding and reactions to information. Sensationalized stories and propaganda have motive; effective resistance requires reality.
The moon will oppose Jupiter on her way to oppose the Sun, and the full moon will occur at 18 degrees of Capricorn with the Sun at 18 degrees of Cancer. I think this adds some volatility, with the Jupiter opposition giving a brief sensation of scarcity or lack of support. The full moon occurs close to where Mars stationed direct in Cancer after this winters’ retrograde, and might quickly re-activate sensitivities or unresolved remnants from the Mars retrograde past. This again emphasizes the importance of recognizing and understanding emotions for what they are, avoiding repression and reactivity.
My plan and recommendation for this Capricorn full moon is to search for the emotional motivation underneath the noise. I can promise you there is one to be found, even if you have to look one, two, three times. While the world is changing loudly on every level, the quiet changes in our hearts and bodies are driving our actions under the full moon. Capricorn is not conducive to large expressions of feeling; it is enough however, to allow and recognize the existence, even if it is quiet, melancholy, irrational. A wonderful time to practice grounding, nurture your connections, focus on your practical surroundings, get familiar with the moment and how you are reacting to it. This full moon is a brief moment, the energy changes quickly, what surrounds you now is different than yesterday and different than tomorrow.
